Hobowars Upgrade

Developed by Hellbored Games; the success of their first free web game release Hobowars led to signups in the region of (150,000 players) according to their online references.

Taking the helm of a bum in a big city, players battle each other, rob stores and steal bits and pieces to climb to the top of the slum and be the best bum in town.

Originally developed by a group of University Students - Hobowars success was met with a sequel but as yet - this next step (Hobowars2) hasn't fully taken off.

There is very limited info online regarding Hobowars2 making it slightly more exclusive, but a strong advertising campaign (along the lines of Evony by Eric Lam) could help get this massively multiplayer (almost text based) browser game to the next level.

The only thing holding Hellboreds Hobowars Series back is the references to violence and theft, much the same as Rockstar Games' - Grand Theft Auto. Another awesome game title, sold stacks of copies and got rave reviews - but do-gooders and many parents dont want kids playing game like this.

Certainly online in a web browser, where other whackos can mingle and interact with their kids.

Hobowars has a great base to launch from, they probably just need to tweak things a touch to get it to really go viral. Maybe integration to Facebook games could be the key?
